THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue (TBFR) responded to a structure fire involving an industrial facility located at 200 block of West Gore at approximately 4:00 pm on May 7, 2020.

The first arriving crews were met by smoke streaming from the structure, and a second alarm was initiated

TBFR Fire crews wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) extended 45mm hose lines to parts of the structure to apply water thus containing the fire to the back of the building. This tactic limited damage mostly to the rear on the interior of the building. The fire did not extend beyond this location.

The cause of the fire is believed to be an overheated piece of machinery. There were no injuries to staff at the facility reported to first responders.

A total of 5 Pumper trucks, 1 Command Unit and one aerial ladder responded to this call.
