THUNDER BAY –  Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident that led to a male being seriously injured Sunday evening. Details are not fully available to media at this point, but police say there should be an update on Tuesday.

What Thunder Bay Police will say is that officers from the service’s Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre at about 10:20 pm on Sunday, May 3, 2020, following reports a male with injures had just collided into a barrier with his vehicle on the hospital’s property.

An investigation revealed those injuries were likely the result of an incident that occurred prior to his arrival at the hospital.

The investigation was determined to be a Major Case and is now being investigated by members of the police service’s Major Crimes Unit.

Police continue to actively investigate this incident but are unable to provide further information at this time.
