Street Value of $50k in Illegal Drugs Seized
COCHRANE ON – The James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a residence on Eleventh Avenue in the Town of Cochrane.
Two persons were arrested and police seized suspected Cocaine, Oxycodone, Methamphetamine, Cannabis, weapons, Canadian currency, electronics as well drug paraphernalia, all with a combined estimated street value of $50 000.
The OPP Canine Unit assisted with this investigation.
Marissa MARTEL, 19-years-old and Cameron MONGEON, 23-years-old, both of Cochrane, have been charged with the following offences:
Four counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm contrary to section 92(1) CC,
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC, and
- Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).
The accused persons were held in custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on May 4, 2020, to answer to the charges. None of the charges have been proven in court.
