NIPIGON – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue their search for a missing woman with members of the North West Region’s Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit (FIU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Alyssa TURNBULL, 26 years of age of Gillies Township (Thunder Bay area) was reported missing on April 14, 2020 at approximately 2:50 p.m. She is described as 5’3″ (160 cm), 100 lbs (45 kg) with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes. Alyssa may have changed her hair colour to purple or red.

She was last seen on March 23, 2020 in the Nipigon area.

The OPP is seeking the public’s assistance in finding her and returning her home safely.

Any person with information regarding this missing person investigation should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or the Nipigon OPP Detachment at 1-807-887-2637.

Several days ago there were concerns raised over an enhanced OPP presence in Nipigon. This search is the reason why there were additional OPP resources in the region.

The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times. The OPP’s website, www.opp.ca, contains a number of useful resources, tips and links. Locking doors and property is a good deterrent and should be a regular practice.
