Fire in Downtown Kenora Sends One to Hospital

KENORA – A fire in downtown Kenora has kept emergency first responders busy.

TThe Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP), the Kenora Fire Department and Kenora Ambulance all responded to a fire in the downtown core, on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at approximately 1:30 am, the Kenora OPP were advised of a structure fire on First Street South.

Police and Fire crews arrived on the scene a short time later and observed thick heavy smoke coming from a building. Fire crews pulled one person from the building who was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The road will be closed at First Street South between Matheson Street South and Main Street South. People are asked to stay clear of the area to allow Emergency services to work.
