Fast Work in Arresting Robbery Suspect at Ali’s Corner Variety

Charges laid following fight at Landmark Inn

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police made quick work in taking a suspect into custody in a robbery of a local convenience store.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were able to locate and arrest the accused of a weekend convenience store robbery within an hour of being dispatched.

Police were dispatched to Ali’s Corner Variety at 700 Franklin Street South just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020, following reports of a robbery that had just occurred.

Police report that according to witnesses, a male had entered the store, approached the clerk and made demands for money. The suspect then threatened to assault the clerk if they did not comply with the demands for cash.

The accused then fled the store on foot.

Police located a male matching the description of the suspect at about 11:30 p.m. that evening. Further investigation confirmed this male was connected to the robbery investigation.

Joseph Anthony PULICE, 35, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Robbery.

He appeared in bail court on Sunday, Feb. 16 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
