Superior, Wis. – The Lakehead Thunderwolves track team competed at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjacket Open on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15.
“It was a decent day for us,” said head coach Kip Sigsworth.
“Next weekend will be a big step up in terms of completion but a good tune-up.”
Amy Stieh and Tia Lampo finished first and second respectively in the women’s 600m. Stieh is currently ranked sixth nationally.
Tyler Pirie finished first in the men’s 300m dash, while Dylan Ford finished just behind him in third. Colin Warwick ran his way to a first-place finish in the men’s mile race, while Niko Dowhos sprinted his way to a first in the 60m. Braedan Prochnicki finished the 60m in third.
The Lakehead men’s relay team finished first in the men’s 4x200m while Haylee Beeman and Katherine Lucas finished first and second respectively in the women’s 3000m.
The Thunderwolves will head to York, ON next Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22 for the OUA Championships.
