WINNIPEG – Police in Winnipeg continues their efforts to reduce illegal and dangerous drugs in the city.
On January 31, 2020, the Organized Crime Unit executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants. One at a single-family residence on Leisure Bay and the other at a storage locker on Lowson Crescent.
Before executing the warrant, an adult male was observed leaving the residence and was arrested a short time later in regards to the search warrant and for an outstanding Warrant of Apprehension, Suspension, and Recommitment to Custody of Statutory Release. He was found in possession of $630 cash, an ASP baton and a knife.
Upon searching the residence, officers located an adult female who was placed under arrest. A search of the residence led to the seizure of:
•approximately $30,000.00 Canadian Currency
•score sheets, scales and packaging material
•3-rounds of .22 cal. Ammunition
•1-ounce cocaine, street value $2000.00
•½ ounce methamphetamine, street value $400.00
A search of the storage space led to the seizure of:
•1 kilo of fentanyl, street value $400,000.00
•1 kilo of methamphetamine, street value $100,000.00
•20 ounces of powder cocaine, street value $40,000.00
Stephen Kenneth Johnston, a 37-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
•Poss of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine X2
•Poss of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine X2
•Poss of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
•Poss of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
•Poss of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
•Poss of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X3
•Poss of a Weapon X2
He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
JENNIFER ASHLEY BERG, a 28-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
•Poss of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – cocaine X2
•Poss of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – methamphetamine X2
•Poss of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
•Poss of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
•Poss of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
•Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order X4
•Poss of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
She was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
