Canada’s Health Minister Patty Hajdu states “Today, Minister François-Philippe Champagne, Minister Harjit Sajjan, and I updated Canadians on novel coronavirus and our efforts to bring back our fellow Canadians from affected areas in China. Canadians will undergo screening prior to boarding the plane, during the flight, and when they land at Canadian Armed Forces Base Trenton.”
RCAF General Jonathan Vance says, “To our CAF Families: As the CAF helps Canadians returning from China, I want you to know that I have full confidence in the protocols & measures in place to safeguard CAF members & Canadians.”
Canadians currently in China who exhibit signs of the novel coronavirus, however, will not be allowed on the plane by Chinese Officials.
“In order to get inside the airport, you have to be screened by Chinese authorities. In order to get on the plane, you have to be screened,” says Dr. David Williams, chief medical officer of health for Ontario, speaking to reporters on February 3, 2020. “In order to get inside the airport, you have to be screened by Chinese authorities. Williams states, “People who are exhibiting respiratory symptoms like coughing “can’t get on. They can’t even get in the airport.”
