THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have provided an update on a serious firearms incident that developed on Cumberland Street yesterday. Police reported that there were four people arrested after they were reportedly sighted with firearms.

Thunder Bay Police now reportss the four people connected to, and arrested following, reported those sightings of firearms have now appeared in court.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to the 100 block of Cumberland Street North just after 4:30 am on Monday, January 27, 2020, following reports of a group who may have been in possession of firearms.

Police arrived and almost immediately located four males who were likely connected to the original call for service.

Police spoke to one of the four males and confirmed that he was illegally in possession of a firearm, at which point he was arrested at the scene. A second male was also arrested for a firearms-related offence.

As the two men were being arrested, the other two suspects fled on foot in separate directions. Both were located in the area later that morning.

Further investigation revealed that the group of males had been in a hallway at the Midtown Inn earlier that morning where they were observed brandishing what appeared to be two firearms.

Both firearms observed have since been seized by police.

A 17-year-old male from Toronto is charged with:

• Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
• Disguise with Intent
• Resist Peace Officers
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
• Carrying concealed weapon x 2
• Firearm: Use While Committing Offence x 2
• Careless Use of a Firearm

Cameron Wendel Douglas DOWNS, 19, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Disguise with Intent
• Resist Peace Officer
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
• Carrying Concealed Weapon x 2
• Firearm: Use While Committing Offence
• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

Adam Avid JAIKARANSINGH, 20, of Toronto, is charged with:

• Disguise with Intent
• Resist Peace Officer
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
• Carrying Concealed Weapon x 2
• Firearm: Use While Committing Offence
• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

Brennan Robert Harold LITTLEFORD, 30, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Disguise with Intent
• Resist Peace Officer
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
• Carrying Concealed Weapon x 2
• Firearm: Use While Committing Offence
• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
• Breach of Probation
• Breach of Recognizance
• Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order

All four appeared in bail court on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.
