We reached out to Jen, a staff member at Red River Dental to have our son (who has autism) seen for a small cavity. We were pleasantly surprised by the office staff’s openness to learning about our son and their willingness to accommodate the needs of a child on the autism spectrum. I was able to visit the dental office prior to the appointment which helped me prepare a social story to get our son ready for the big day.
On Tuesday, January 21st, my husband and I brought our son in for his filling appointment. The staff was so warm and welcoming, they spoke directly to our son, which sounds small but is a really big deal. Dr. Meyerson and his assistant explained everything to our son and made sure he was comfortable. Throughout the procedure they were patient and reassuring to our little guy; even when he got scared and wanted to get up from the chair.
We were in the office, start to finish for less than 15 minutes. The staff understood our concerns and knew that time was an absolute factor of success. Dr. Meyerson and his staff get 5 gold stars from us and 5 gold stars from our son.
We want to thank everyone at Red River Dental once again for this experience. I highly recommend Dr. Meyerson to anyone with kiddos on the spectrum, sensory sensitivities or are in any way nervous about seeing a dentist.
