THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Rapid fast thinking and action by an employee in the Emergency ward of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre put out a fire in a hurry.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received a call on January 18, 2020, at 18:00 hours of a fire in an emergency room at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

When crews arrived on scene the fire was already extinguished by staff using a portable fire extinguisher and one person sustained burns. The person was being treated at the TBRH and the fire is under investigation.

Positive pressure blowers were used to remove the smoke from the affected area.

A total of four pumpers and a platoon chief responded to this call.
