THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The snow across Thunder Bay has started to slow down. Environment Canada is calling for periods of snow and local blowing snow into tonight in Thunder Bay with amounts of 2 to 4 cm. Winds will be north 30 km/h gusting to 50. The overnight low will be minus 11.
The weather service says that the wind chill will be minus 12 this evening and minus 20 overnight.
Highway 17 is Closed East of Wawa
Highway 17 is closed due to road conditions.

In Thunder Bay, Roads Manager Brad Adams says, “Thunder Bay road crews continue to re-plow arterial and collector roadways and sidewalks and will do so till 4 pm today.”
Roadway
At 2 am Sunday, resources will be back out plowing the arterial and collector roadways and once completed commence Local street plowing. Local street plowing operations should be completed by the end of Tuesday, January 21.
Sidewalks
At 3 am Sunday resources will be back out plowing the arterial and collector sidewalks and this should be completed by 4:30 pm Sunday. Local Street sidewalk clearing will commence Monday and take approximately 5 days to open all sidewalks.
Snow Bank Removal
Roads will review snowbanks in the core areas and arterial and collector streets to determine if this operation needs to undertaken. No action will commence till all plowing operations are completed and the extended forecast looks favorable for no snow for an extended period.
