THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has updated its weather alert for Thunder Bay to a Snowfall Warning. The warning is extended to the Nipigon Rossport region as well as the Superior West region.

The weather service is calling for snowfall amounts in the city to range from 15 to 25 centimeters in accumulation.

Snow is expected to move into the area this evening and become heavy at times overnight as a low-pressure system approaches. The snow will continue through the day Saturday before tapering off to flurries Saturday night.

Southeasterly winds gusting up to 50 km/h will create areas of blowing snow giving reduced visibilities, particularly overnight and early Saturday morning.
