WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police have provided updates on the city’s first two homicides of 2020. At a press conference this morning, police were able to provide some details into both homicides.

Winnipeg Police have also released the names of the victims. There has been an arrest in the death of a woman in Saint Vital.

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 6:13 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the Worthington neighbourhood for a report of suspicious circumstances.

Soon after, officers located an injured adult female at a residence in the first 100 block of Hindley Avenue. The female was transported to the hospital in critical condition where she was pronounced deceased.

Police say that the two were known to have resided at the address.

The victim has been identified as Reagan Danielle GROSS, 49.

Kodey Lionel TRUDEAU, 34, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He has been detained in custody.

January 12 – Three Men Shot – One Dead

On January 12, 2020, at approximately 2:53 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of shots that had been fired in the 100 block of Garry Street.

Police stated that the entire incident started in the hotel, and then spillled out into the parking lot of the Windsor Hotel. Police are light on details at this point of the investigation but do say this was not a random shooting, and the shooter and victims were known to each other.

A police spokesperson said it is likely there were more people who were involved. Police have not identified what type of weapon was used.  Police say that this is common in this stage of the investigation.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel located three injured males. All three were taken to the hospital in critical condition. One male has since succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased victim has been identified as Yassin Abdu Ahmed, 20.
