Update on Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident on Highway 502

On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 2:30 pm, the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Ornge air ambulance, Watten and Fort Frances Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 502, approximately 20 kilometers north of Highway 11.

The investigation revealed a northbound motor vehicle collided with a southbound motor vehicle. A passenger in the southbound motor vehicle was confirmed deceased at the scene. Both drivers were taken to the hospital by EMS.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators also assisted in the investigation. Highway 502 was closed for approximately 8 hrs and has since reopened.
