Police Seek Public Assistance in IDing Suspect in Armed Robbery

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – An armed robbery at Barb’s Laundrament on Victoria Avenue East has Thunder Bay Police Service seeking help from the public to identify the suspect.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were originally dispatched to the 1200 block of Victoria Avenue East just before 12:20 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2020, following reports of a robbery that had just occurred at Barb’s Laundromat.

Police learned a male suspect had entered the business, approached the counter and then threatened staff with a knife while making demands money and store merchandise.

The male fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the business and was last seen running southbound on Marks Street.

The suspect is described as a male standing about 5’9” tall with a larger build. He wore a black jacket, black neck tube, a grey toque, blue jeans, white runners, and one black glove on his right hand at the time of the incident.

This investigation is now being led by officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Break and Enter and Armed Robbery (BEAR) Unit. As a result of their ongoing investigation, police have obtained, and are now releasing, surveillance video footage that shows the suspect at the time of the robbery.
