WASHINGTON – An American airbase in Iraq has been hit by as many as ten rockets.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham says, “We are aware of the reports of attacks on US facilities in Iraq. The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.”
The al-Asad airbase in Iraq houses US forces, and is the same base that President Donald J. Trump visited in December 2018 at Christmas.
It is not immediately clear about injuries or what the degree of damage or casualties are in the attacks.
The rocket attacks come as tensions between Washington and Tehran have increased following the United States attack on Friday of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani.
