THUNDER BAY – Shipping on the Great Lakes continues. The Port of Thunder Bay remains active, with ships getting support from the Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaker Samuel Risley.
Sometimes our icebreakers operate in close quarters with other ships. This helps relieve ice pressure so vessels can keep moving. Check out some of the shots of this delicate work carried out by our Commanding Officers to help keep shipping moving on the #GreatLakes pic.twitter.com/KGxXOgNfal

Keeping the shipping lanes open until January 15, 2020, when the Sault Locks is expected to close takes a lot of work by the Coast Guards from both Canada and the United States.
You can keep track of the Marine Traffic in Thunder Bay, on the Great Lakes and beyond on Ship Tracking.
