THUNDER BAY – Over the course of 2019 NetNewsLedger continued our evolution in news and reporting. We started the year with a new theme for the site that is mobile friendly and responsive. Growing numbers of our readers are getting their news on their smart devices.
Our journey in reporting news in Thunder Bay and across the region and beyond on NetNewsLedger.com started in 2007. We have made a lot of positive changes over the ensuing years. Our goal is simple, reporting news, information, and viewpoints to you, our readers on what matters to our city and our region and our world. Our “Agenda” is a better Thunder Bay and a better Northwestern Ontario.
We seek to speak truth to power, and to realize that our news reporting carries with it a massive responsibility too. NetNewsLedger is a news outlet, not a tabloid – we remain focused on getting accurate news to you, our readers and viewers with the kind of accuracy and fairness we know you deserve.
Thunder Bay faces real challenges. Those challenges require serious people working to solid solutions. We will never change until we all start working together toward real and achievable goals.
We never claim perfection, but we seek it in our reporting. We don’t expect perfection from our elected leadership, however we will be following the truth and reporting on the journey.
Heading into 2020, we will be expanding our environmental coverage. We see the threat to our planet and our Earth’s climate as one of the key issues facing humanity. Expect to see more pieces and educational articles on NNL.
We are also working to present positive ideas and opportunities that can assist Northwestern Ontario and Thunder Bay successfully transition to a better future. Media in some cases is seen as big and corporate, and rarely fighting as hard as possible for the downtrodden. NetNewsLedger seeks to be a voice for those who society often seems to silence.
Our goals are lofty. Our Agenda is set. Together we can achieve the potential that Northwestern Ontario and Thunder Bay have long talked about but not yet reached.
It must be working.
Through 2019 we saw our readership grow like never before in our history. We can now thank millions of you, our readers and viewers, for your ongoing support.
Thank you, Chi Meegwetch, Merci, Kiitos, Grazie, and Tika hoki!
