THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The City of Thunder Bay Manager of Road, Brad Adams has provided this update as the City starts clearing roads and sidewalks:
Road Plowing
On December 29th, Road crews started plowing arterial and collector streets at 7 am and were required to re-plow these routes again due to continued accumulation. No residential areas were plowed yesterday as resources were tasked with keeping the arterial and collector streets open.
December 30th – Plowing operations commenced at 2 am this morning with the plowing of arterial and collector roadways. Resources will commence residential plowing operation as of 9 am this morning. At noon today, the arterial and collector roadways will be re-valuated and resources may (probably based on the forecast) have to be reassigned to plow these roadways again.
The plowing operation will be scheduled for 2 am tomorrow to plow arterial and collector roadways and once completed residential area plowing will resume.
Sidewalk Plowing
Sidewalk snow plowing started at 3 am this morning on the arterial collector streets sidewalks and the core area. Progress is very slow due to the quantity and weight of the snow. We expect to continue with clearing arterial and collector sidewalk all day and once these are cleared we will commence Local Street sidewalk snow clearing.
