Building your business depends on making successful choices

The New Year is the perfect time to make exciting plans for your business; you have (hopefully) ended the previous year on a high and are full of new ideas and motivation for pushing your business forward in the year ahead. However, if you need a little helping hand, either in executing your ideas or deciding where to start in refreshing your business, then keep reading to discover six exciting, innovative ways that you can make it happen.

1.   Update Your Premises

If there are any physical aspects of your business that need fixing or updating, now is the time to do them. In order to attract new customers, your business needs to look fresh, modern, and up to date; so make sure you replace any windows that are looking tired, fix any roof issues and ensure that the entrance to your business is well-maintained – no cracks in the concrete, please! If you are ready for a big change, you could even look at overhauling the whole exterior of your business, which will help to grow your brand exponentially in the upcoming year. Look for local commercial contractors that you can trust and who carry out high quality work – this is not an area of your business you should scrimp and save on.

Another great idea is to update your signage; even if you have not changed the name of your business, a brand refresh is an ideal way to present a thriving and growing business to your customers.

2.   Re-Evaluate the Layout of Your Building

It is equally important that the inside of your business looks as professional and looked after as the outside does, as this is where the magic happens, so to speak. If you have a shop, ensure that your window display is constantly updated and reflects the time of year, as well as showcasing your best products. Make sure you rotate stock and push your best sellers, rather than having the same unsold item on display for months on end.

If you run an office or work out of an office building, make sure that the layout is conducive to business. For example, if you carry out meetings, do your clients have to walk through a social staff area, such as a breakroom, to get the meeting room? You want to make sure that you appear professional at all times, or you could risk losing potential business.

3.   Update Your Website

The new year is the ideal time to look at your website and see what it is achieving for your business. Are you getting a lot of traffic? Are you turning clicks into conversions? Are there areas of the site that need updating or redoing completely? The most important rule to remember about your company website is that it should be constantly updated. Do you have any new products? Put them on your website. A new member of staff? Introduce them on your About Us page. Content should also be relevant and up to date, with blogs that are timely and consistent, so your customers know what they are getting when they visit your site.
