DULUTH, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Dairy Farmers peewee Kings are on a roll winning their second straight tournament in back-to-back weekends as they rolled to the title at the Gales of November event in Duluth.
Thunder Bay went a perfect 5-0 in the eight-team tourney en route to their latest crown culminating with a 5-1 victory over the Lakeville South Prowlers from Minnesota in the championship game Sunday.
Round robin play saw the Kings top the Minneapolis Storm, Hermantown Hawks and Farmington Tigers by scores of 4-0, 5-3 and 6-3 respectively.
They then earned their way to the final by bouncing the host Duluth East Greyhounds 6-0 in semifinal action.
Meanwhile, the Maritime Petroleum Advisory Services (MPAS) bantams wrapped up competition at the Mississauga Rebels Border Battle tourney with a 2-3 overall record.
Thunder Bay dropped their first three games at the 29-team event as they fell to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres (5-1), Los Angeles Jr. Kings (3-2) and the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (4-3) before coming back to defeat the Amherst, N.Y., Knights (5-2) and edging the San Jose Jr. Sharks (3-2).
Both Kings’ teams will next take part in the annual Spirit of Duluth tournament Dec. 6-8.
