THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police have updated the homicide report on the Arundel Street murder.
Johnathon Mark MCKAY, 40, of Thunder Bay has been charged with Second-Degree Murder in connection with the homicide of Nazareth Andrew KWANDIBENS.
MCKAY has now appeared before a judge and the charges have been sworn. This allows police to release the name of the accused.
On Wednesday, Police and First Responders attempted to resuscitate the victim, who was later identified as KWANDIBENS after arriving on the scene of a residence on Arundel Street following reports of a death.
Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit later confirmed the nature of the death was consistent with a homicide.
The accused was identified and arrested Wednesday, November 13, 2019, and appeared in bail court in Thunder Bay on Thursday, November 14, 2019.
MCKAY has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date of December 11, 2019.
Police are continuing to hold the scene. A post-mortem examination will take place in Toronto. The police investigation is ongoing.
