UPDATE: from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue
At approximately 23:00 on November 1, 2019, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were called to a structural fire in the 200 block of Bethune Street.
The first arriving crews could observe the smoke from blocks away, causing a second alarm, bringing total trucks responding to be 5 Pumper trucks and one Aerial Ladder, with 22 firefighters.
Fire crews worked through the night to contain this fire to the one structure.
Efforts were hampered by the older age and construction type of the home, personal belongings affecting access, and progress of the fire when TBFR was first notified.
The fire was brought under control, the cause is unknown and under investigation. The property is being secured and held until it can be determined if the structure is safe to enter for the purpose of a fire investigation. The fire has not been determined to be suspicious in nature at this time.
