Police Arrest Man After Baseball Bat Incidents on South May Street

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police report that a man who was swinging a baseball bat at vehicles on South May Street last night is now in custody.

In a media release, police report that a Thunder Bay man is in custody facing charges following a foot chase by Uniform Patrol officers last night.

A patrol officer in the city’s south side received information from a citizen who had observed a man swinging a bat at passing vehicles in the 100 block of South May Street last night, just before midnight.

The officer proceeded to South May Street where he observed a shirtless man swinging a bat. When approached, the male ran from the police. Other officers assisted in the foot pursuit which saw the man running into a building and down a fire escape before being apprehended in a laneway near Donald Street.

The 26-year-old man will appear in court this morning charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and 2 counts of Breach of Probation.
