Fast work by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Kicks down Fire at St. Joes

THUNDER BAY – At approximately 07:44 on Friday, August 9, 2019, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to an automatic fire alarm located at 131 Syndicate Avenue South. During the response, the situation was upgraded by staff on-site to a structural fire located in the St. Joseph’s area in the woodworking shop of this Complex.

The first arriving units were waived down by St. Joseph’s Staff on site. They indicated that there was a working fire in the woodworking shop located at the address.

Fire crews entered the South entrance where they encountered smoke and flames issuing from inside the woodworking area.

Due to the quick response of Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Units, the fire was quickly knocked down and was brought under control keeping the damage to the structure to a minimum.  All occupants present at the time of the fire in the Victoriaville complex were evacuated and no injuries were sustained by the occupants or responding personnel.

Three fire pumpers and the Platoon Chief were involved with the extinguishment of the Fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
