THUNDER BAY – NEWS – An observant Thunder Bay Police Service officer spotted and arrested a woman accused of a recent robbery at the Subway Restaurant in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue. The arrest happened on Tuesday, August 6 just after 6:30 pm when the officer spotted and arrested the woman.

The Police were originally dispatched to a reported robbery on Monday, July 29 at about 9:45 p.m. at the Subway restaurant located in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue.

Officers learned a woman in the restaurant took store merchandise from a display and attempted to leave.

An employee confronted her, and during this confrontation, the accused assaulted the employee. After a brief struggle, the accused fled the restaurant on foot toward Central Avenue.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, police were able to identify the accused.

The police officer saw the accused on Red River Road near Algoma Street on Tuesday and recalled her being identified as the suspect in the Subway robbery.

The accused, a 29-year-old Thunder Bay woman, was arrested without incident and charged with Robbery.

She was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
