KENORA – A traffic stop in Kenora has netted $24k in illegal drugs and $3000 in cash as Kenora OPP have five individuals arrested.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Kenora , the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the OPP Crime Unit has charged five individuals with drug and Criminal Code related offences following arrests in Kenora on Thursday, August 1, 2019.
The charges stem from an investigation that resulted in a traffic stop in the North end of Kenora.
Seized during the traffic stop was what is suspected to be: Crystal methamphetamine, over $3000 in Canadian Currency, a firearm and other drug paraphernalia items used for drug trafficking. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $24,400.
As a result of the investigation, five people were arrested and charged.
Tyler MITCHELL of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with the following offences;
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Occupant of Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm contrary to section 94 CC
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC
- Fail to Comply with a Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) CC (Three Counts)
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibited Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC
Katlynd CRONLEY-POLKINGHORNE of Dryden, ON has been charged with the following offences;
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Occupant of Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm contrary to section 94 CC
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC

- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

- Occupant of Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm contrary to section 94 CC

- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC

Wayne KEJICK of Kenora has been charged with the following offences;
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Occupant of Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm contrary to section 94 CC
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibited Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC
Shelly PEETWAYWAY of Sioux Lookout, ON has been charged with the following offences;
- Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Occupant of Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm contrary to section 94 CC
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibited Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC
The accused were held in custody and attended bail court on August 2, 2019 at the Kenora Courthouse.
