THUNDER BAY – For August 5, Civic Holiday Monday it is not a holiday for everyone. Major grocery stores, Metro, Safeway, Walmart are all open, as are Skaffs in Current River and George’s Market on River Street.

Intercity Mall will be open as well. Many smaller shops and businesses are closed.

The Hub on Victoria Avenue East is closed today in the downtown Fort William neighbourhood.

Bay Village Coffee and the Bean Fiend are also taking the day to enjoy the weekend.

Be sure to check out Festa Italiana at the Italian Cultural Centre on Algoma Street.

Thunder Bay Transit is operating today but on a holiday schedule. Check Nextlift.ca for transit times.

Banks and government offices are closed.
