Garage Fire Pumps out Heavy Smoke over Thunder Bay

Garage Fire – 131 Raynard Road

THUNDER BAY – At 18:00 (6:00 PM EDT) on July 31/19, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received a report of a garage on fire at this address. While en route, the first arriving apparatus reported heavy smoke was visible.

At that point, a second alarm was requested.

The first arriving units encountered a detached garage fully involved in fire. A defensive attack mode was initiated.

The closest fire hydrant to the scene was approximately two kilometers away on Oliver Road.

To overcome this obstacle Thunder Bay Fire Rescue set up as water shuttle to supply water to the firefighting efforts on scene.

The garage sustained heavy fire and water damage.

5 Pumpers, 1 Tanker, 1 Aerial Ladder, and the Platoon Chief responded. No injuries were reported, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
