THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Officers with the Thunder Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police dealt with another impaired driver on the weekend.
The OPP report that on July 18, 2019, at approximately 7:01 pm EDT, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 61.
The driver of a minivan had exited from Chippewa Road, continued northbound onto Highway 61 and proceeded to collide with several guard posts. The vehicle sustained extensive front end damage. There were no injuries reported.
Officers attended the scene and determined that the driver of the minivan had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and further tests were conducted.
Zaila YAQUBI, 56 years of age, from Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged with:
– Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 30, 2019, to answer to the charge.
