THUNDER BAY – POLITICS – David Bruno is a devoted community leader with a proven record of community service. Many people already know David through his family bakery DonatosBakery.com and know of their ongoing community service and devotion to helping others in the community and the less fortunate for the past 25 years. He, through his family bakery, has donated funds and food to local food-banks, schools and charitable organizations for fundraisers; donated funds to the Diabetes Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and participated in numerous festivals that celebrate cultural diversity and promote community inclusion in Thunder Bay every year for the past 25 years.

David has shown deep passion and determination to make a real difference for families in the community.

As the Team Trudeau nominee for Thunder Bay – Rainy River, David understands what it takes to create good, well-paying jobs in the community. Now more than ever, he is committed to working with Justin Trudeau to further growour middle class, and to support every family working hard to join it.

Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Northwestern Ontario, David’s personal, career and political interests took root at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with Honours. During this time he also served in the Canadian military as a young Second Lieutenant. When he decided to pursue a Masters Degree in International Relations and Communications in Madrid, Spain, he received an Honourable Discharge and was awarded the Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship to study abroad. His experience there afforded him rich insight into how different governments function and talk to each other on a diplomatic level, as well as Canadian missions playing out abroad. He was granted an internship at the Canadian Embassy in Madrid, where he acted as an interpreter. As he is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian he was a valuable asset there.

Since then, he has spent over 20 years specializing in financial sector solutions for the digital and interactive e-commerce sectors and comes from a career background of International Telecom and Credit Card Processing. In addition, he has dealt with Relationship and People Management, Business Development and Strategic Alliances. He has also spent over 15 years as the principal consultant on information security anti-hack and anti-corporate espionage systems to various financial institutions and banks worldwide.

Today, he is the CEO of a Global Cybersecurity company, SecureSwissData.com, and has made it his mission to educate the public on today’s cyber threats and privacy protections, providing security to the masses for free and investing his own money in an encrypted email server for the general public. He also advocates for the LGBTQ, refugee and other disenfranchised communities to use encrypted email and other encrypted telephony apps for self-preservation, protection and privacy. He is currently working with the Government on policy issues and has already contributed to the development of the New Digital Charter presented by Minister Bains.

Not only was David born and raised in the region, but knows Thunder Bay Rainy River intimately as he has trained and worked within the region all his life and understands the landscape and industry, its vibrant character and community, and would, therefore, be a hardworking Member of Parliament, representing the community’s interests in Ottawa.

David has firsthand experience with the challenges that middle-class families face every day and understands the priorities/issues and hardships working and living in a forestry, mining and now mainly service-based industry. He has already been to visit with community leaders in Fort William First Nation and also UNIFOR’s representatives and members where he has listened to the issues surrounding the Thunder Bay Bombardier manufacturing facility. David knows that The families of Thunder bay – Rainy River need a trusted voice in government who will be a champion for a stronger middle class and jobs.

David will never stop working hard to build a better future for the families of Thunder Bay – Rainy River, here and abroad.
