WINNIPEG – NEWS – Winnipeg Police have put another dent in the drug trafficking trade in the city.
On July 16, 2019, at approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the North District Community Support Unit, along with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Guns & Gangs Unit, the West District Community Support Unit and North District General Patrol officers, executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code search warrants at a residence in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue.
Several individuals were taken into custody, and a search of the residence has led to the seizure of items, including the following:
– A sawed-off pump-action 12-gauge shotgun
– A sawed-off .22 calibre rifle
– A Beretta-style replica BB gun
– Various calibre ammunition
– Bear spray
– Approximately 22.5 grams of methamphetamine
– Approximately 4 grams of crack cocaine
– $6,000 in Canadian currency
A taxi-cab that had left the residence was stopped in the area of Salter Street and Flora Avenue where two individuals were taken into custody. A search of the taxi-cab resulted in the seizure of:
– A stripped-down .22 calibre firearm
– .22 calibre ammunition
– Approximately 45.5 grams of methamphetamine
– $400 in Canadian currency
– Two mobile phones
– Packaging materials
James Glen Houle, a 30-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
– Possession of Scheduled Substance – Cocaine
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
Sheldon Derrach Catcheway, a 27-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
Vincent Charles Trout, a 39-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice
All of the individuals were detained in custody. None of the charges have been proven in court.
