Thunderstorm Warning – July 17/19 – Fort Frances Region

KENORA – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm watch for the western regions of Northwestern Ontario.

The weather service says, “Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, heavy rain and an isolated tornado”.

These thunderstorms are expected to affect the area late this afternoon and this evening.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Fort Frances – Emo – Rainy River
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
