FORT FRANCES – WEATHER – Environment Canada has upgraded the earlier Thunderstorm Watch to a Thunderstorm Warning.
6:00 PM EDT Wednesday 17 July 2019
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
- Fort Frances – Emo – Rainy River
At 5:00 p.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.
Thunderstorms over northwestern Minnesota may cross the border into Ontario between 6:00 and 6:30 pm CDT.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
