THUNDER BAY – UPDATE at 09:00 am – Please be advised that telephone systems at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre are now restored.

The system outage is due to mechanical failures. Replacement equipment is expected to arrive today and tomorrow for immediate installation. It is anticipated that this will address all issues and that the telephone system will function normally.

EARLIER – As of 08:00 am – Due to equipment failure, the telephone system at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is currently out of service. The Hospital is unable to receive incoming calls with the exception of fail-safe phones.

The Hosptial Switchboard can be reached on a fail-safe phone at (807) 346-8096. While the system is out of service, anyone calling regular Hospital contact numbers will receive a busy signal.

In case of emergency, please contact 911.

The safety of patients, staff and community members is always the priority. Plans are in place to support emergency communications while the system is down and emergency codes can be activated.

It is not yet known when the phone system will be active. An update will be provided when the telephone system is restored.
