Large Grass Fire Put Out by Fire Rescue Crews

THUNDER BAY – On June 15th at about 9:30 pm, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received a report of a grass fire at the 20th side road and the train tracks.

Upon investigation by first arriving units, it was determined that multiple fires were burning along the tracks starting at Lynda Ave. and extending past the 25th side Road into Oliver Paipoonge Township

Seven Pumpers, 2 4X4’s and the Platoon Chief responded. During this operation, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue also received calls from homeowners whose property was adjacent to the railway tracks who were concerned about the fires burning close to buildings. No buildings were damaged during the fire and no injuries were reported
