WEATHER – Thunderstorm Warning in Effect for Kenora District

KENORA – Environment Canada has a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for the Kenora district.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Kenora – Grassy Narrows – Whitedog
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson

Risk of a severe thunderstorm late this afternoon and this evening.

Isolated thunderstorms affecting the area may become severe late this afternoon before moving out this evening. The main threats are strong wind gusts to 90 km/h and 2 cm hail. Heavy rain is also possible.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
