Convenience Store Robbery Suspect Arrested

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police have made an arrest in two recent Circle K convenience store robberies. Jonathon William FORD, 40, of Thunder Bay was charged with Robbery: Offensive Weapon x2, and Probation Order: Non-Compliance.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers arrested a male connected to two recent convenience store robberies.

The first incident took place just after 10:30 PM  on Monday, May 27 at the Circle K convenience store at 708 May Street North. At that time the accused entered the store, approached the counter and demanded money while threatening the clerk with what was believed to be a needle.

The second incident took place less than an hour later that same night at the Circle K located at 745 Simpson Street. The accused entered the store, approached the clerk and demanded money. This time the clerk was threatened with an object believed to be a screwdriver.

As the result of an ongoing investigation, the TBPS’s Community Response Team was able to identify the accused in both incidents and make an arrest on Friday, May 29, 2019.

Ford appeared in court Saturday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of today.
