THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police Service is looking for a suspect involved in an assault and public disturbance at a north-side bar early Monday morning.
Police say that officers were dispatched to a disturbance at The Sovereign Room bar on 220 Red River Road just before 2:30 am following reports of a large fight inside the establishment. A group of males were said to be outside the bar threatening staff and patrons immediately following the altercation, but they were not present when police arrived on scene.
Through the course of their investigation officers learned a male, who was part of a larger group at the bar, began a physical confrontation with other patrons and assaulted a woman.
A staff member of the bar intervened, at which point a number of males from the accused man’s group became involved. The staff member was then assaulted by the male who had initially assaulted the female patron.
Police describe the accused as a black male with a thin build. He had high cheekbones, a silver grill on his front teeth, and wore large shiny diamond rings on his hands. He also had thin cornrows. Police do not have an image of the accused to share with the public at this time.
The accused is violent and police urge members of the public not to approach or confront him.
The woman assaulted did not require medical attention. The male employee required medical attention for non-life threatening injuries.
