William Wapoose Homicide Update – Suspect Named

THUNDER BAY – Jonathon Edward Massicotte has been identified as one of the two suspects in the homicide death of William Wapoose.

Massicotte faces charges of First Degree Murder and uttering death threats. The other suspect is facing First Degree Murder charges. He was under the age of 18 at the time of the homicide and can not be named under provisions of the Youth Justice Legislation.

William Darryl Wapoose, 32 years of Thunder Bay was located at approximately 7:30 am on September 3rd, 2014 by a citizen walking on the bike path at the south end of Chapples Drive. At the time it was apparent that foul play was involved and over the ensuing years, numerous people were interviewed and attempts to obtain information on those responsible for William’s death were made.

The homicide raised serious concerns about the safety of people on the pathway in Chapple’s Park. There have been a number of people assaulted in the area over the past years.
