If you’re thinking about installing a new awning for your home or business, the cost is obviously a very important faction.

At this point, you know that you need an awning on your patio or outside your house.

You know all the benefits that come with owning one of these bad boys.

The aesthetic appeal of a complimentary exterior room to your house.

The protection from harmful UV rays that they provide to you and your family.

The effortless showcasing of your personality through beautifully crafted craftsmanship.

The differentiating factor that makes your house looks way better than any house in your neighbourhood.

You know all of that.

But, how much will it cost you?

Here I’ll be sharing with you how much awning installations cost and if there are any extra costs regarding it.

When it comes to installations, it’s very subjective depending on what the task is but I’ll give you the best estimates regardless.

These numbers will obviously not contain some special features that you might ask for or exterior costs.

If you’re asking for 16 feet to 30 feet wide awning, the price ranges from $170 to $350 but if you want an electric motor for your retractable awning, then the hardwiring of that motor itself will run you an additional $50 – $200.

Which will add up to $220 – $550.

Apart from that, you’re likely to have additional exterior costs.

The main three common costs are:

Labour – Unless you want to do it yourself, you’re going to have to pay someone to install it for you.

I’d definitely recommend that you pay someone since there are trained professionals that do this for a living and you negate the possibility of hurting yourself or getting frustrated with the mechanical aspect.

Labour isn’t that expensive, however.

Usually, they tend to charge somewhere between $40-70 an hour for labour and they would only need a couple of hours until the awning is good to go!

Awning – Obviously, you’d have to pay for the awning!

The awning is always the most expensive part of the installation and it’s made up of various parts.

There is the fabric cost, installation brackets, the frame, colouring, remote controller and the mechanism that makes it work.

When it comes to the TOTAL prices, it’s usually anywhere between $1,500 – $6,000 depending on what kind of awning.

If you want to install a lateral-arm retractable awning, the price for it ranges between $1,500 to $6,000.

There are other motorized retractable awnings with remote controls usually vary slightly in the range of $700 to $1,000.

It really depends.

Make sure that you clarify what you want as an awning to your supplier and check if the price is inside your budget.

When thinking about price, remember that this is a long-term investment in yourself and your house.

It upgrades the aesthetic appeal, saves you a ton of sunlight AND provides you with a nice shaded area for you to hang out with your family and friends.

When it comes to awnings, people always wonder about the maintenance cost associated with having one as well.

Now that you know the benefits of having an awning and the investment necessary to get one of your likings, all you need to do is find the right company for the job without needing to ask them “what is the awning installation cost”.
