THUNDER BAY – Folklore Festival 2019 is this weekend, May 4 & 5th. Once again, visitors to this popular annual celebration of Thunder Bay’s diversity will prove to be a whirlwind “Trip Around the World” in Entertainment.
Festival hours are Saturday, 12 noon to 11 pm and Sunday 12 noon to 7 pm
Visitors will be thrilled by performances all weekend-long including high flying Ukrainian dancers, the Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay, Le Stelle Alpine Italian Dancers, the Kiikurit Finnish Folk Dancers, First Nation s performers, and the dramatic Lion Dance performed by the Thunder Bay Chinese-Canadian Association.
Heran Zhao who has performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall will perform both days at Folklore, and Club culture! francophone de Thunder Bay’s choir will kick off Sunday.
Enjoy tantalizing international foods, wines & beers, and feast on Syrian, Caribbean, and Mediterranean foods. Try Filipino shish kababs, Slovak cabbage rolls, curries from India, a Bannock burger, and Portuguese elephant ears.
Just travel the World in Food!
Top this off with a glass of imported Italian wine, a Red Stripe beer, an Espresso, or a delicious dessert.
Visit the exhibits and “shop the world” booths surrounding the Main Stage, enjoy a superb Children’s area packed with FREE activities including the free Children’s Inflatable, courtesy of Tbaytel, and the local visual artists on site.
Our Saturday night Feature Entertainers, the “Thunder Bay Ceili Band”‘ amazingly talented musicians, will take visitors on a trip to Ireland” playing Irish traditional music with jigs, reels, and a lively Ceili Dance with Caller Terry Smith.
Great for all ages and all dancing abilities. Visitors are invited to listen, dance, and ENJOY!

The Food Court with International Beers and Wines is also open until 1 am on Saturday night so bring your friends for an “International Irish Party as we head off to Ireland!
