Buffalo Airways #BFL169 Suffers Engine Failure

YELLOWKNIFE – Buffalo Airways #BFL169 suffered an engine failure shortly after departure from Hay River. The crew attempted to return to the field however the aircraft came down approx six miles from the airport. The two people on board were not hurt.

The Transportation Safety Board has been notified and may deploy investigators.

Buffalo Airways is best known from the days of the television show Ice Pilots.

Buffalo Airways was founded by Joe McBryan (aka “Buffalo Joe”) in 1970. Since then Buffalo Airways is operating as a family business. Our airline operates scheduled passenger, charter passenger, charter cargo, firefighting and fuel services. The company’s main base is at Yellowknife Airport (CYZF). Buffalo Airways has two other bases in Hay River, Northwest Territories, and at Red Deer Regional Airport (CYQF) in Alberta.
