THUNDER BAY – LIVING – The City of Thunder Bay is excited to host a Youth Arts Showcase, presented by Ontario Power Generation, in celebration of National Youth Arts Week, which occurs together with National Youth Week May 1 – 7 every year. Along with Youth Week Activities at the Kinsmen Youth Centre, the City will present a Youth Art Show and Youth Music Showcase featuring some of Thunder Bay’s most talented youth.

The Youth Art Show will take place Friday, May 3, to Sunday, May 5, at the Kinsmen Youth Centre.  The show features work by youth ages 12 – 20 years of age from across the City. The opening reception will take place on Sunday, May 4, from 5:30 – 6:30 pm and feature live music by Matt Sellick.

Directly following the Youth Art Show Opening, an outdoor Youth Music Showcase will be hosted outside at the Kinsmen Youth Centre from 6:30 pm – 9 pm. Featured talent includes local youth:
DJ Rawlin, The LockyerBoys featuring Nicole Parisien, and Sarah Kanutski. Jury prizes for the Youth Art Show will be announced at the Music Showcase.

The City will also be hosting a free youth arts workshop series throughout the week in collaboration with the Community Arts and Heritage Project (CAHEP).   • Youth Photography Workshop: Thursday, May 2, at the Baggage Building Art Centre, 5 – 7 pm
  • Youth Art Show: Friday, May 3, 3:30 pm – 9 pm; Saturday, May 4, 1 – 8:30 pm; Sunday, May 5, 1 – 6 pm at the Kinsmen Northwood Centre
  • Youth Art Show Opening: Saturday, May 4, at Kinsmen Northwood Centre, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
  • Youth Music Showcase: Saturday, May 4, at Kinsmen Northwood Centre, 6:30 – 9 pm
  • Youth Jazz Hop-Hop Dance Class: Sunday, May 5, at McKellar Park School, 1 – 2 pm
  • Youth Contemporary Dance Class: Sunday, May 5, at McKellar Park School, 2 – 3 pm
  • Youth Graffiti Art Demo & Workshop: Tuesday, May 7, at Boys and Girls Club, Vale location, 3 – 5 pm
