LIVING – The knowledge of their existence may have been revealed over a thousand years ago, yet not many people truly understand what Chakras are or how they affect our daily lives. The word Chakra translates to ”wheel.” Its origins can be traced to the Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. The Hindus described Chakras to be a spinning energy wheel that houses consciousness and oversees the spiritual and physical aspects of our attributes. Essentially, the body is in a state of the constant flow of energy. From cells, organs, systems, the body emits energy. The Chakras are the channels that propagate this continuous flow of energy. In total, there are seven Chakras, each located strategically in the body. Read on to know more about the seven Chakras and the way they can affect your life.

1) Root Chakra

This is the first Chakra. It is also referred to as Muladhara. It is located at the spine’s base and is represented by the color red. This Chakra oversees grounding and our survival instincts. When it is blocked (imbalanced), it leads to certain physical and emotional issues, including feeling insecure, anemia, constipation, and materialism. Balancing the seven Chakras is not that hard. You can learn how to cleanse your blocked Chakras and achieve a balance that will improve your physical, emotional, and mental health.

2) Sacral Chakra

Also referred to as Swadisthana, this Chakra is located on the lower abdomen. It is represented by an orange color. It oversees intuition, sexuality, and self-worth. An imbalance could result in reproductive system related health issues, pain on the lower back and complicated family relationships.

3) Solar Plexus Chakra

The solar plexus Chakra is also referred to as Manipura Chakra. It is located in the upper abdomen and is represented by a yellow color. It oversees ego and impulse control. An imbalance in this Chakra could lead to digestive problems, self-criticism, and eating disorders.

4) Heart Chakra

The heart Chakra is also called Anahata Chakra. It is located in the middle of the chest region and is represented by a green color. This Chakra controls spirituality and compassion. When blocked, the issues include high blood pressure and self-negligence.

5) Throat Chakra

It is also called the Visuddhi Chakra. Located in the throat, the Chakra is represented by the color blue. It controls emotions and communication. A blocked throat Chakra could lead to arrogance, poor communication, anxiety, and depression.

6) Third Eye Chakra

This Chakra can also be referred to as Ajna Chakra. It is well placed in between the eyebrows on the forehead and is represented by the color indigo. This Chakra controls the imagination, rationality, and wisdom. When it is blocked, the problems include a lack of concentration, poor clarity, poor vision, and insomnia.

7) Crown Chakra

It is also referred to as Sahasrara. This Chakra has a unique location – on top of the head. It is represented by the color violet and is seen as a gateway to connect with God. When this Chakra is blocked, the resultant problems include fatigue, obsessive attachment, neurological disorder, and boredom.
