Winnipeg – Child Sexual Abuse Imagery Arrest Made

WINNIPEG – NEWS – In late February 2019, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit entered into an investigation regarding child sexual abuse imagery being uploaded to a social media site. The provider had notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States who in turn alerted the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa and the Winnipeg Police Service.

During the morning of April 8, 2019, members of the ICE Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed a search warrant at a suite in an apartment block in the 600 block of Panet Road. Several electronic devices were seized. Analysis of the electronic devices later revealed numerous child sexual abuse images.

On April 15, 2019, a male suspect turned himself in at HQ.

Wade Arthur Herbert, a 56-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

– Possession of Child Pornography

He has been detained in custody.
