KENORA – Wabaseemoong Independent First Nation has elected a new Chief.

Waylon Scott has been elected Chief. Scott was the director of operations. He now succeeds Chief John Paishk as the head of Wabaseemoong First Nation.

Scott has served as a youth delegate from Grand Council Treaty #3.

Roanna Jourdain, Glen Kent and Rocky Bunting, Senior will join Waylon Scott as Councillors.

Wabaseemoong First Nation is also known as Whitedog First Nation. The community of 800 is located north of Kenora and is along the Winnipeg River and English River systems.
