Academic and Mental Health Support for Students
THUNDER BAY – As the efforts to end the stream of threats against Hammarskjold High School continue. Teachers and staff at Hammarskjold High School are taking pro-active action to ensure students can keep on on their classes.
Academic Support for Hammarskjold
Hammarskjold High School staff have been posting materials, lessons and other activities online to support students who have missed class due to school closures.
The efforts if maintained can likely benefit students who after this current problem is resolved, who are home with an illness or when winter weather causes school closures.
Students can log in to two online portals, Edsby and Classroom Websites, both of which are linked from our main page under the Students panel at www.lakeheadschools.ca
To log in to either Classroom Websites or Edsby students use their standard username and password which is the same username and password they use to log in at school. Our initial username and password format are below:
Username – The first 8 characters of the first name, followed by the first 8 characters of the last name, followed by two numbers for the month of birth, followed by two numbers for the day of birth (example – johnsmith1225 )
Password – the first initials of the first and last name, followed by a dash, followed by the last six numbers of the student number.

Mental Health Support
The Lakehead Board of Education has also ramped up support for students who may have issues over the constant threats and to their safety.
The Lakehead Board reports, “Following the incidents, the school social worker has been available for students. In addition, other school social workers and the Mental Health lead have also provided support. Outside community agencies have also made themselves available and offered debriefing and support for all students and staff who were interested. Guidance Counsellors are also available to all students.”
